For our last practice before the next round of Jet Cadets we did some benchmarking with the group. It's my third round. Results are below:
For 10/16, 12/11 and today
25 lap time: 4:08, 4:09, 4:08
# of laps in 2 minutes: 12, 12.75, 12.4
1 lap time: N/A, 13.something, 11.something
# of pushups in 30 seconds: N/A, 24, 33
# of times you can put one knee down, the other knee down, and then stand back up in 30 seconds or 'get ups': 10, 12, 17 (BOO YAH)
I'm a little frustrated that my 25 lap time has not improved since October. It's not a bad time, but I really wanted to be under four minutes by now. I'm certainly a better skater now than I was then. My solution: Start doing the warmup during speed skating classes on the derby ring instead of the speed skating track which is considerably bigger. I think it's an issue of using all the good techniques I've learned at speed skating on a smaller track.
I am, however, going to give myself serious props on the pushup and 'get ups.' There has obviously been considerable improvement since I started incorporating both of those things into my cross training routine. My goal for 'get ups' had been 18, but I'll take 17. Top of the group is 20. By the end of next draft (May) I want at least that. I'm pretty sure I'm already at the top of the group for pushups, but just for fun let's say I'm aiming for 40 by May.
For number of laps in 2 minutes I just know I can hit 13 and would have had more today if I hadn't gotten stuck behind someone slower than me. It's hard to be disappointed with so much improvement in my one lap time, but let's say I want 10.5 or less for next time. My starts have gotten a lot better with all the speed skating practices and I think that can continue to improve.
Thursday's disappointment is wearing off a bit. We did some scrimmaging today and I still wasn't feeling as good (mentally) as last week when we scrimmaged the league. Here's wishing I could watch myself play...
