OK, here's the past two days in short form:
Cadet Practice: We did a standing crossover drill where you're more or less upright, you cross your right leg over, keep all 8 wheels on the ground and then push your left leg forward so that your feet are exactly parallel to one another. This is another piece to my left leg push puzzle. I think it's supposed to simulate that little snap that should happen at the end of your left leg push. My foot doesn't snap.
Open Skate: I had this amazing plan to do 1000 transitions but after 700 of them I found I didn't have the will to continue. Rather than turning around in complete circles I worked on staying on the outside derby ring and transitioning so that I always looked to the inside track. Each 100 I would switch and go to the inside derby ring and transition so that I always looked to the outside track. Theoretically this would be so that when someone knocks you out of bounds in either direction, you transition in such a way that you can always keep an eye on the game.
Speed Skate: I convinced several people to come with me tonight. There were a lot of calisthenics involved. We did a start drill where you do your start while pushing a buddy forward. There's a lot of fast duck walking involved. I've been giving myself props on my starts lately because we do so many in speed skate that I think I'm getting the hang of it.
