I Have An Answer

People keep asking me when I'm going to be cleared for contact again.  I have a lot of really good responses for that:
I cannot make it heal faster than it's going to heal, but I can do a lot of things to make it worse.
I think that these things come in their own time.
It feels better every day.
I'm seeing the doctor on Saturday.
Of course, all of those are nicely worded ways of saying, "I don't know.  Not today."  It's not as if when I see the doctor on Saturday he's going to wave his magic stethescope and it will suddenly feel very different than it does now.  As much as it feels better, it's not ready yet and I know it.  I don't want to go back out and scrimmage if I'm doing so as a liability rather than an asset to my team.  I also don't want to feel like I have to hold back when I play.
So it's all about ice and and patience PT compliance.  I had a great PT session yesterday.  Here's what we did:
10 minute bike warm up
15X3 lunges stepping onto a Bosu Ball (half yoga ball)  Both sides
15X3 side lunges stepping onto a Bosu Ball.  Both sides.
3X15 yoga ball hamstring curls
20X3 squats, holding a medicine ball while standing on the Bosu Ball
15X3 one legged squats standing on a half styrofoam roll.  Both sides.
25 sets standing crossovers on skates while attached to weight machine (one set has me crossing over for about 10 yards)
3X3X20 calf raises - the first 10 of each set slow, the second 10 fast.  One with your toes forward, one with your toes pointed away from each other like a ballerina and the last pigeon toed.
On another note, here's the best photo of me skating to date (photo credit to Eric Korn):
