Enter Now and Win!

You know you want to.
I like contests where you're guaranteed to win so I'm making one for you: my readers.
Step 1:  Click on THIS LINK and donate to the Jet City Roller Girls.  When you donate, you have the opportunity to indicate a skater name.  Please indicate my name:  Slater.
Step 2:  Leave a comment for me here at Derby Business and let me know how much you donated, whatever part of your name you feel comfortable disclosing (First name, initials, etc.), and a topic you'd like me to write about.
Step 3:  Wait.  Once I confirm your donation, I will write one paragraph about that topic for every $5 you donate.  If you donate $50, I will write 10 paragraphs.  If you donate $1000 then I'll write 200 paragraphs and you can pick as many topics as you want.  :D :D :D
"Why..." you may ask, "are you randomnly soliciting money for Jet City?"  Well, we're raising money for the 5th annual skate-a-thon.  Theoretically this allows you the opportunity to sponsor a skater and pledge to donate X number of dollars per lap that she skates.  If any brave soul wants to give me a per lap pledge and donate later that's fine by me and the above rules still apply.  I'm pretty gimpy right now so I might only get in a couple hundred...
The better question is:  why donate to Jet City Rollergirls at all?  I'll tell you.
Jet City Rollergirls is a Non-Profit Organization
You will get a receipt and your donation will be tax deductible.
Jet City Rollergirls Stimulates the Economy
When you give us money, we spend it.  We'll spend it on our aging trailer and wearing sport court floor.  We'll spend it printing posters and making merchindise  We'll spend it renting our venue:  Everett Community College.  For the most part, that money goes into the local economy, so you're not just supporting Jet City Rollergirls, you're supporting other local businesses in Everett and Snohomish county.  Everyone's a winner.
Jet City Rollergirls Empowers Women
I can't think of another sport that attracts a greater variety of women from more walks of life than roller derby.  I skate with moms and strippers and doctors and tattoo artists.  We get a lot of people who for a number of reasons wouldn't play another sport.  We're every shape and size and every player's body type has an advantage (and a disadvantage).  Nearly all of us start with no skills.  Jet City Rollergirls provides a place for any woman to be accepted, challenged and taught to play with no experience necessary.  Once we put on our skates, it's a level field.
You Love Roller Derby
Let's face it:  derby isn't a money making enterprise.  You love derby, you come to the bouts, you want to keep it around.  So do we.  We pay with our bodies, our time and our hearts.  We pay with cash too.  No small amount of cash.  If you love derby, cough up a little and walk a little taller the next time you darken our doors.  We can't do it without you.
