I'm Committing to One Paragraph a Day

...because I want to do this again but have absolutely no time for it.
At DerbyLife they have a category of articles called "Things I Wish They Had Told Me" for things about roller derby you had no idea would happen before it did.  Here's one of mine.
You will be inundated with email.  It's not totally out of the question for me to get over 50 a day just for roller derby.  Of course, it makes sense.  It's difficult for all of us to get together off skates to talk about much of anything business related.  Email is the easiest way to collaborate between a lot of people who are in geographically diverse areas.  They range from the inane:  "OMG I think ferrets are funny!" to the routine:  "Who's in for the carpool tonight?" to the critical:  "How many tickets do we need to sell next season to remain solvent?"  In some ways it's overwhelming but I often feel that these little constant pings are what helps to bring us together as our weird little family.
